Santiago Burelli (b. 1993, Caracas, Venezuela) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans documentary filmmaking, sound installation, sculpture, and experimental approaches to popular music.
Burelli’s work is guided by political and sociological inquiry, exploring our relationship to materials, space, and sound. Through experimentation with concrete, neon, rare earth elements, electronics, and most recently bronze, he examines the complexities of industry, extractivism, production, and consumer culture. His current focus is on developing a bronze casting studio and exploring materiality and sound through sculptural practice.
Throughout his career, Burelli has taught at the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR, Brazil), exhibited at CTM Festival and Transmediale Festival in Berlin, and contributed to productions by internationally recognized artists including Julius von Bismarck, Donna Huanca, Malte Bartsch, and Julian Charrière, working in a variety of roles from sound designer to metalworker.
He holds an M.F.A. in Sound Art and Sonic Studies from Universität der Künste Berlin and is the founder of OBJEKT4000,
a production studio and creative hub that he developed within the former Stolzenhain Soviet Nuclear Warhead Depot.
